NaBuP Bursary Terms & Conditions

  1. Bursaries are exclusively for educational expenses (tuition, books, accommodation).
  2. No cash payments are made to beneficiaries; all payments are directed to institutions or service providers.
  3. Beneficiaries are classified as Active (immediate use) or Inactive (future use).
  4. Bursary funds are forfeited if not used within three consecutive years.
  5. If a beneficiary passes away before using the bursary, 10% is allocated for family support.
  6. Academic failure does not result in bursary loss, but beneficiaries must show intent to continue studying.
  7. The bursary is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
  8. Bursary funds are managed by NaBuP’s bursary administrators to ensure transparency.
  9. Anyone who wins the bursary is referred to as ‘Bursary Beneficiary’ (BB).
  10. There are Two (2) types of ‘Bursary Beneficiaries’: Active Bursary Beneficiaries (ABB) and Inactive Bursary Beneficiaries (IBB).
  11. ‘Active Bursary Beneficiaries’ (ABB) are beneficiaries who will use their winnings immediately after winning, e.g., students who just passed matric, students already in tertiary institutions, and those in possession of a matric certificate, even if they are or were not in school at the time of winning the NaBuP Bursary Competition. Active Bursary Beneficiaries will be contacted telephonically for further instructions.
  12. ‘Inactive Bursary Beneficiaries’ (IBB) are beneficiaries who will use their winnings in the future, e.g., students in Pre-schools, Primary schools, or Secondary school but not yet in grade 12. Inactive Bursary Beneficiaries will be contacted telephonically for further instructions on their winnings.
  13. If an Inactive Bursary Beneficiary drops out of school before becoming an Active Bursary Beneficiary, the bursary will be put on hold for three (3) consecutive years, after which it will be terminated.
  14. The winning criteria is based on the number of SMS sent. The winners will be the entrants with the highest volume or number of SMS sent. The more SMS you send, the better chance you have to win.
  15. The NaBuP Bursary Competition prize is NON-REFUNDABLE. No payments need to be made back, nor do you need to work for NaBuP to compensate for the bursary.
  16. No Bursary Beneficiary will receive money directly; all payments will be directed towards education-related expenses as outlined in the NaBuP Bursary Competition Policy. Bursary administrators will provide communication to the beneficiaries regarding this.
  17. The NaBuP Bursary is NON-TRANSFERABLE. Only the winner is eligible to use it.
  18. The NaBuP Bursary is not exchangeable for cash.
  19. If you don’t use your winnings within three consecutive (3) years as an Active Bursary Beneficiary, you will forfeit your winnings and bursary.
  20. It is the responsibility of an Active Bursary Beneficiary to seek a tertiary institution to study, so NaBuP can know where to direct their winnings.
  21. If an Inactive Bursary Beneficiary passes away before using their winnings, NaBuP will donate 10% of the competition winnings to the family for burial responsibilities. (Terms and Conditions apply).
  22. Each Bursary Beneficiary's winnings will be managed by a Bursary Administrator who will oversee their studies.
  23. You will not lose your bursary if you fail, as long as you remain determined to continue your studies. However, failing may result in a decrease in your winnings.
